DRISHYAM2: Review

Quick note:

I thought of writing a review for the movies after the end of Bigg Boss Season 4, which was the show that gave me an entry into review writing

I am happy that my first film review is Drisyam2. It is a sequel to Drishyam1.

Director: Jithu Joseph

The parents of the deceased Varun, Mrs Geetha, IPS and her husband were keen on locating their son’s body even after six years. It was a big challenge for the police too. Finally, the police succeeded in their search of the deceased’s body and arrested Georgekutty.

How Georgekutty came out of the case and saved his family again is the story of Drishyam2.

No words to say about Mohanlal’s acting. His experience speaks. Other actors and actresses, mainly Meena, supported the film well.

Two main twists in the film - one is in the first half, and the other one is in the climax. The climax is nail-biting, no artificial or extra fittings for the sake of making it commercial. A clean screenplay is an added point to the movie.

The finest part of the movie is while police were planning to fix the Georgekutty on this case by using different moves, parallel to the point,  Georgekuutty also observing the police moves and working out to save his family. Not even a single shot is wasted.

Classy thriller movie with no fights, no heroism and no mass scenes.

Viewers might think from two angles after seeing the movie.

1. George Kutty's daughter murdered the young boy, Varun and The hero, George kutty, buried the body, and his whole family hid the facts. So Georgekutty and his family shall be punished for their crime.

2. At the same time, the boy Varun misbehaved and what George kutty and his family did was justifiable.

What I felt was that legally speaking, he should have surrendered with his family. If Georgekutty had surrendered with his family, keeping in view the facts and the circumstances under which the murder occurred, he and his family would get a few years of jail.  At the same time, Varun’s mother being IG of police, for sure would have tried to cover the truth, to protect her son and her family’s reputation, and tried to frame the family. That’s why he didn’t surrender and gave his best to save his family.

Varun’s parents suffered a lot mentally, as they didn't bring up their son correctly. It is a lesson for all parents. There is a general opinion in our society that only girls should be brought up with the utmost care, and for boys, it is not necessary, which is wrong. Boys should also be taught good habits, and it's the parents' duty that they bring their children properly.

And those who felt Georgekutty and his family escaped from his punishment, I would say no. They might have escaped legally but not morally. His family suffers from guilty feelings, which itself is a life term punishment for them. While hearing police siren or seeing police keep, the way the family members jerk is the perfect example.

George kutty, though he could escape from the case and save his family, he and his family also suffered mentally. His elder daughter got Epilepsy, and rumours spread in their town that she had a relationship with Varun, the deceased boy. Basically, she was a nice girl, but her name got spoilt because of that boy. This will be a life long mental agony for Georgekutty and his family.

Georgekutty might have escaped from the law, but his family suffered for some reason.

We can expect Drishyam2 in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi too in due course.

In Tamil, Drishyam1(Papanasam) Kamal and Gowthami acted in that movie. In case Papanasam2 is taken, whether they both will act together again, as they are not on good terms now, is something we have to wait and see.
