ORGANIZING GRUHAPREVESAM(HOUSE WARMING CEREMONY): TIPS
Whether it is a new house or old house, the owner before entering the house, it is considered mandatory to organize a housewarming ceremony which aims to purify it from evil spirits. Close relatives, friends, colleagues and new neighbors are invited for the functions and follow a very special ritual. Based on the birth date and astrology of people buying the new/old house, brahmans fix the date for organizing house warming ceremony. Preferably the time fixed will be the auspicious hours of the day, between 4 to 6 AM, as these times are always favorable for blessings.
After putting mango and neem leaves as well as sacred water (cows urine), brahman proceeds to what is called a Ganapathy Homam, Goddess Lakshmi Homam, and Navagraha Shanthi Homam.
Afterward, a real cow(representing Lakshmi goddess) and her calf are invited at the doorstep. Milk will be heated, once boiled flows to the left it is okay, but if it flows to the right it is a very good omen!
Ashes arrived from Homam will be put in a small cloth that will be suspended at the entrance door. After some time it will be left into the sea. Once the housewarming is finished, a pure and fresh life can begin!
