                                                         NEW EDUCATIONAL POLICY

I always feel proud that I know FIVE languages, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kanada and English. My daughter knows French, in addition to these five languages.  So she knew 6 languages in total.

I, Rani Kannan,  born in and brought up in Chennai, TamilNadu. So I know Tamil to speak, write and read.

My mother is from Karvettinagaram Village, Chittoor District, AP. So I know Telugu but only to speak.

I completed Visharadh, through Hindi Prachara Saba, Chennai. So I know Hindi to speak, write and read.

I was working in Central Warehousing Corporation. My daughter pursued her BL Hons in National Law Scholl Of India University, Bangalore. For her sake I got transferred to Bangalore and I worked there for 6 years. I learnt to speak Kannada. I know only to speak. Even, after my retirement also , am in touch with my friends in Bangalore.

Interestingly, at Karnataka, everyone, including bus, auto, taxi drivers, daily rated employees know at least 3 to 4 languages, such as Kanada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. But , they are very much grace on their mother tongue Kanada and their State, They celebrate  1st November as Rajostava Day and it's a public holiday for all State/Central Government offices, Pvt offices, Schools / Colleges. They have separate flag also and that day everywhere and also in the vehicles one can see the flag.

English , of course, I studied at school and college level. Moreover , since I worked in Central warehousing Corporation, (A Govt of India Undertaking), drafting/noting will be in English only. So I know English to read, write and speak.

My personal experience says, knowing more language is really worth and it is very useful in our practical day to day life.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST: MY SON-IN-LAW BELONGS TO SINDHI BUT HE KNOWS ONLY HINDI AND ENGLISH. HIS PARENTS AND SIBLINGS ALSO WILL SPEAK ONLY HINDI AND ENGLISH. SO MY GRANDSON WHO IS TWO YEARS OLD CAN UNDERSTAND FOUR LANGUAGE.
MY DAUGHTER AND SON-IN-LAW SPEAK WITH HIM IN ENGLISH. MYSELF AND MY HUSBAND SPEAK WITH HIM IN TELUGU. MY DAUGHTER SOMETIMES SPEAK WITH HIM IN TAMIL. MY SON-IN-LAW’S PARENTS AND SIBLINGS  SPEAK WITH HIM IN HINDI. SO MY GRANDSON FOLLOWS ALL THE FOUR LANGUAGES, TAMIL, TELUGU, HINDI AND ENGLISH. AM VERY PROUD AND HAPPY FOR MY GRANDSON.

My personal opinion is, Tamil Nadu need not get scared on New Educational Policy. Tamil is the ancient language and the Tamil literature is beyond comparison.  Ramayana, Mahabharata, OMG, no words to describe.

Thirukural beyond anything else. Valluvar Kottam is the best representation. Thanks to our great leader, Kalainar Karunanidhi. Even in Karnataka also Thiruvalluvar statue is there.

I remembered the joke of Late. Cho  and would like to share with you all:

Once Cho was travelling with his Telugu friend. The friend said to Cho that, even your Tamil poet Bharathiyar told ”Sundara Telugu” so Telugu is the best.   Cho spontaneously replied Yes,    even for saying “Sundara  Telugu “  you need only Tamil poet!

That is Tamil, Tamil language and Tamil poets.

Recently, Ms. Kanomozi, DMK, MP faced an unpleasant experience in the Chennai Airport. Her tweet is reproduced below:

Some people said she knew Hindi. Even if she knows Hindi also, it’s not necessary that she should converse in Hindi. Language should be on our choice only. No one can compel us to talk in a particular language.

However, we cannot speak any language to anybody  who is not aware of that language. 😁😃

But still, it is not wrong in learning an additional language. Suppose if someone got a job in Central Government and got postings on the Northern part of the Country, surely he will face problems till he gets accustomed with the language, even in the  day to day life.

Of Course,  English is there. But one thing for sure, South Indians are having more commend than any one else in the country in English.  SouthIndian love to speak English whereas Northern side they love to speak their mother language only. So to survive at Northern side for job or business or any matter, one should know Hindi to run smooth life there.

The letter of Ex-Vice President,  Anna University, to the Chief Minister of TamilNadu is given below which narrates the importance of New Educational Policy:

I find the New Education Policy is good for our nation subject to not imposed on  any particular language. Subject to students are allowed to select the language on their own. There is nothing wrong in  learning one additional language.

Now two language system is followed in the State Board and Matriculation systems. Whereas in CBSE three language system is followed wherein the Hindi language is mandatory. These CBSE students are benefitted by knowing one language additionally.

The extract of New Educational Policy

Opinion differs from person to person. Hope the Government will go by the majority.

Thank you.
